What is a Base32 secret? Where do I get it?

When you set up 2FA for an account (Facebook, Google, a crypto exchange…), the setup page usually shows a QR code plus a long text string (e.g. "JBSW Y3DP EHPK 3PXP…"). That string is the Base32 secret — paste it into the tool to generate a code.

Is the tool safe? Does it store the secret?

It does NOT store the secret. Each time you click "Generate", the backend receives the secret → computes the code → returns it → forgets it immediately. No database, no logs. Still, best practice is to use the tool only for secondary accounts — keep your main account in a dedicated authenticator app.

When the code expires, do I need to re-enter the secret?

No. The tool refreshes the code every 30 seconds — just click "Generate" again if the countdown has run out.

What if I lose the secret?

The tool stores nothing, so it can't recover it. You'll have to use that service's backup codes, or contact its support to reset 2FA. Be sure to save the secret somewhere safe as soon as you set it up.
